RPM) announced today that Dr. Alan Ross, vice president and technical director
of Kop-Coat, Inc., an RPM company based in Pittsburgh, PA, has been elected
president of the American Wood-Preservers' Association (AWPA). For nearly 100
years, AWPA has been devoted to the development of standards and the
dissemination of technical information on preservative treated wood. AWPA
standards cover a wide range of treated wood products including utility poles,
railroad ties, docks, windows and backyard decks.
Ross has a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from Yeshiva University and a B.S. in
Chemistry from Case Western Reserve University. He has been vice president and
technical director for Kop-Coat since its establishment in 1988 as a spin- off
from the Koppers Company.
