Our leading brands develop products and services designed to extend the lifespan of high-performance buildings and infrastructure while reducing greenhouse gas emissions, enhancing energy efficiency and lowering costs. We incorporate bio-based and recycled materials into both our formulations and packaging to promote safe, environmentally responsible solutions.
Many RPM products also adhere to high industry standards and meet requirements for LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design), U.S. Green Building Council and EPA Safer Choice Program certifications, among others.
RPM remains on the cutting edge of sustainable product innovation by focusing on how our products are made and what they do. Our building products and services help our customers reduce their emissions, energy use and costs while extending the life of a building.
For example, Tremco’s AlphaGuard™ BIO reinforced roofing and waterproofing solution reduces overheating and enhances a building’s ability to regulate temperature. Distinguished by its high bio-based content, it is ideal for a high-performance roof in odor-sensitive environments, such as schools and hospitals.
In addition, we work to find ways to incorporate renewable or bio-based materials into our formulations. This creates safer and more environmentally friendly products for our end users while providing the same or improved performance compared to competing products.
Fibergrate Composite Structures’ recycled grit, which is made from crushed glass, contains little to no respirable silicon dioxide (SiO2) and is used in surface preparation, repair and finishing for composite structures.
Rust-Oleum’s Mean Green Ready-To-Use Multi-Purpose Cleaner combines robust cleaning power with the gentleness of plant- and mineral-derived ingredients. Similarly, our Rust-Oleum® Low Odor Water-Based Spray Paint features 40% less odor than traditional spray paint with the same great performance.

Serving the needs of our customers and protecting their well-being is at the heart of what we do. We take strict precautions to ensure the health and safety of our customers and endusers, as well as associates working in our facilities. Our R&D teams continue to innovate by designing more water-based technologies and safer product alternatives to protect the environment and those who use our products.
As part of our goal to mitigate or eliminate certain materials in our products, we regularly evaluate opportunities to improve formulations for our users and associates. This includes many ongoing projects intended to reduce or replace materials we have identified for elimination or mitigation in favor of more bio-based chemistries to benefit our environment and end users.
We work to align our products with the highest safety and industry standards as part of our commitment to keeping our associates, customers and end users safe while using our products. Across RPM companies, many of our products have earned certifications for adherence to sustainability-related standards, including, but not limited to:
To reinforce product safety protocols, we offer numerous resources for our customers to learn about the proper use of our products. Many of our companies publish Safety Data Sheets (SDS) on their websites to maintain transparency about the ingredients contained in our products, hazard identification, handling and storage and personal protection information when using our products. In addition, many RPM companies offer online training and how-to videos on various products to provide a visual guide for product use.
